In keeping with our mission, this year’s event honors two legendary entrepreneurs from Louisiana in the hair care industry, Madame C. J. Walker, and Emmitt T. Douglas.
Madame Walker gained recognition nationally as an inventor and America’s first self- made female millionaire.
Emmitt Douglas gained recognition statewide as a local businessman, and owner of Douglas Barber and Beauty Supply and Douglas Fine Foods.
Both Walker and Douglas were considered leaders in the hair care industry and dedicated philanthropists.
The evening will be filled with captivating dance performances by the Shillouettes Dance Company, and iconic soulful musical selections of the John Gray Jazz Ensemble.
