About This Event

CHB Lafayette is welcoming former Louisiana Poet Laureate John Warner Smith as he leads A Poetic Celebration of the Life and Legacy of Muhammad Ali on June 5 at 6 p.m. at CHB Lafayette! 


This event is in commemoration of the tenth anniversary of the death of Muhammad Ali and co-sponsored by The Festival of Words Cultural Arts Collective, a nonprofit organization that supports artists and strives to inspire creative expression and a higher level of literacy among Acadiana residents.


John, along with devoted fans of “The Champ,” will read poems from his collection, *Muhammad’s Mountain.* After the reading, there will be a viewing of a short clip from the film *City of Ali,* which highlights the weeklong celebration of Ali in his hometown of Louisville.
