About This Event

Join us Sunday, September 30th for a Baton Rouge Blues on the Gold Coast Supper Club at the West Baton Rouge Museum.

We're playing your song with a blues-themed event taking place at a juke joint on the beautiful grounds of Port Allen's West Baton Rouge Museum. Chef David Crews - creator of Cleveland, Mississippi's nationally recognized Delta Supper Club will be at the stove, while local blues duo Smokehouse Porter and Ms. Mamie play classic Baton Rouge blues at the historic juke joint located on the grounds.

WHY THE "GOLD COAST?"
At the West Baton Rouge Museum stands a Juke Joint that illustrates the major role West Baton Rouge Parish played in the evolution of the “Baton Rouge Blues. In the first half of the 20th century, Port Allen and surrounding communities were home to many juke joints. Popular hotspots on the westbank attracted a steady flow of patrons from both sides of the Mississippi River-people looking for a good time in establishments that stayed open all night. In the 1950s and ‘60s, less-restrictive liquor laws and the many juke joints that flourished on the westbank, created fertile ground for live music by the likes of Slim Harpo, Buddy Guy, Lazy Lester and Ernie K-Doe; and earned the stretch of Highway 190 from the river to LA 415 the nickname “The Gold Coast.”
