Jazz Through the Ages

An America 250 Celebration Event

Presented by the City of Covington

As part of the nationwide America 250 celebration, the City of Covington invites you to experience an extraordinary musical journey through the history of jazz.

Featuring two exceptional musicians, Don Vappie and Ben Redwine, this special performance explores the evolution of America’s original art form, from the early sounds of New Orleans jazz and ragtime to the timeless swing and classic standards that shaped American music.

Internationally recognized banjoist and vocalist Don Vappie is celebrated for his mastery of traditional New Orleans jazz and Creole music. Joining him is acclaimed clarinetist Ben Redwine, whose expressive clarinet performances bring depth and authenticity to the rich traditions of early jazz.

Together, they guide audiences through the story of jazz, blending music, history, and storytelling in a program that honors the sound of America.

Celebrate 250 years of American history through the music that helped define a nation.
