Little known fact. When I (Monica) first moved back to Louisiana, and to New Orleans, Happy Talk Band was just starting out and I was lucky enough to catch their show at a little club on Decatur St. called El Matador. It was one of a handful of small bar/clubs in the quarter featuring cool bands and pretty affordable drinks. Not much later, this club would be bought by Harry Anderson and turned into a magic club. It was a bit of a bummer if I'm being honest. I still think about El Matador quite a bit, and while not the only time I've seen Happy Talk, the time I remember the most. We are looking forward to making a new memory at the vineyard with them!

Whimsy aside, here is Happy Talk:

Happy Talk Band is an Americana/ Roots Rock quartet from New Orleans, LA. They have released four full-length albums and one single, beginning in 2004. Total Death Benefit (2004), There There (2007), Starve A Fever (2010), and Pothole Heart (2017). The single, “Other Than Everything, Everything’s Great” was released in 2020. Their

current line-up is songwriter, rhythm guitarist and vocalist, Luke Allen, Alex McMurray on lead guitar, Steve Calandra on bass, and Jeff Massey on drums. They have toured the west coast, the southeast, and the Midwest, and played many local festivals including Jazz Fest, Chaz Fest, French Quarter Fest, and Mirliton Fest.

Happy Talk was voted best Rock Band in 2010 at Offbeat Magazine’s Best of The Beat Awards and Best Roots Rock Band at Gambit Magazine’s Big Easy Awards in 2008. Songwriter Luke Allen was a featured guest on Gwen Thompkins Music Inside Out in 2018. Happy Talk is currently working on a fifth album.

Please be aware of your surroundings. We are an outdoor, functioning winery and vineyard, and surrounded by wooded areas where critters will occasionally dig holes overnight. We ask that attendees use care when walking in the field, recognizing that there may be debris or uneven surfaces and expressly assume the risk of injury arising out of a condition of the soil, trees, or crops growing from it, and release any person or entity that is otherwise responsible for these conditions. Children are welcome at Wild Bush, but we ask that they not enter the vineyard spaces, as the plants are young and vulnerable, and occasionally inhabited by wildlife.
