Young Jane Based on one of the most popular Disney movies of all time and the Broadway musical that played for over 2,500 performances and received multiple Olivier and Tony Awards nominations, Disney and Cameron Mackintosh's Mary Poppins is capturing hearts in a whole new way: as a practically perfect Broadway Junior musical!

The jack-of-all trades, Bert, introduces us to England in 1910 and the troubled Banks family. Young Jane and Michael have sent many a nanny packing before Mary Poppins arrives on their doorstep. Using a combination of magic and common sense, she must teach the family members how to value each other again. Mary Poppins takes the children on many magical and memorable adventures, but Jane and Michael aren't the only ones upon whom she has a profound effect. Even grown-ups can learn a lesson or two from the nanny who advises that "Anything can happen if you let it."

Disney and Cameron Mackintosh's Mary Poppins JR. is an enchanting mixture of irresistible story, unforgettable songs and breathtaking dance numbers. This show is a perfect opportunity to showcase a strong, iconic female performer, as well as unique special effects and illusions.

CAMP DETAILS:

The camp will be held July 8-19 at Manship Theatre. Please note: Camp is NOT held on Saturday, July 13 and Sunday, July 14.

Private auditions for specific roles will be held prior to the start of camp on Saturday, May 4, 2019 from 9:30-1:30pm. The auditions will help us learn your child’s strengths, so we can cast them in the perfect part. Auditions will be held in the Hartley/Vey Studio. Once the show is cast, children will be able to pick up their script and music CD in order to prepare for the start of camp. Everyone must be off book (lines and lyrics memorized) at the start of camp. There will be no make-up audition date if your child cannot make the audition.

Director’s Note: Please know that it is incredibly important that your child be in attendance each day of the camp. We will be moving very fast learning music, choreography, and blocking.

  • Drop off begins at 8:30am. Camp begins at 9:00am. The carpool line will be on North Blvd. outside of the entrance to the Hartley/Vey Studio Theatre. There is a Loading Zone designated for the carpool line drop off. Parents will not need to exit their car. Camp assistants will be waiting outside to help your child out of the car.
  • Pick-up is at 4:30pm for all campers. All parents must sign their child out with Manship Camp staff in the Hartley/Vey Studio Theatre. Parents can temporarily park in the Loading Zone on North Blvd. Please be prepared on the first day to provide the name of the person/persons who will be picking up your child each day.
  • Please write the name of your child on a piece of paper and attach it to your rear view mirror before entering the carpool line. An easy way to do this is attach the paper to a clothes hanger and hang it from your rear-view mirror.
  • If you are running late, you are given a 15-minute grace period, but there will be a charge after the 15 minutes. For example, if pick-up is 3:30pm and you have not picked-up your child by 3:45pm, you will be charged a $5 fee, then $1 for each minute thereafter. This money will go to the camp assistant who will be waiting with your child.
  • Your child is to bring a lunch, drink, and a snack for the afternoon. There is not access to a refrigerator or microwave.
  • No toys, games, or personal items are to be brought to the camp, unless asked by your camp instructors.
  • Please wear comfortable clothing each day. If your child wants to wear a skirt or dress, please make sure they wear leggings underneath. No flip-flops or backless shoes.
  • If a child does bring a cell phone to camp, it is to stay turned off/ silent in the child's bag.

Friday, July 19th: 8:30am arrival for a 9:00am start. Dress Rehearsals will be during the day with two performances Friday, July 19th at 5:30pm and 8:30pm. Children will be wearing their camp T-shirts the day of the performance.
