About This Event
Evelyne M. Bornier is stopping by CHB Lafayette on June 07 at 1 p.m. for a Q&A moderated by Margaret M. Marshall (who co-authored Parcours Louisianais with Evelyne)!
Evelyne, the Endowed Alumni Professor of French at Auburn University, will be discussing her latest work, Pays d’en haut, pays d’en bas, with Margaret, a specialist in Creole languages and Louisiana French, on the CHB stage! The collection, whose title translates to “The Upper Country, the Lower Country,” is one that D.A. Kress describes as “a meditation on personal and devastating loss... and on the rebirth of a people's soul.”
Je vais, l’âme apaisée par le sublime azur,
Sous le ciel triomphal, vaste et d’un bleu si pur.
Au loin, la lande s’étale en touches mystiques,
Et le silence est habité d’hymnes prophétiques.
We can’t wait to hear Evelyne read clips like these and discuss her collection with Margaret!
Make sure to RSVP through Bon Temps Tix! Copies of Pays d’en haut, pays d’en bas and Parcours Louisianais will be available at the event. General admission tickets will be available up to the event itself or until sold out – tickets are free, and we love a good headcount!
Bonne Lecture!
